The Quest is saxophonist-composer Alex Loran’s debut album which showcases her unique composition style as well as performances by some of her closest friends and musical collaborators.

Through her compositions, Loran tells the story of the Hero’s Journey in a brand new way. Her use of melodies, groove, and harmony create colorful textures throughout the octet, and gives each musician their own chance to shine.

From Afro-Cuban to funk, swing, odd meter, and more, Loran’s creative voice stands out both through her writing and her performance. The title track especially demonstrates her distinct take on melody and rhythm, featuring a flowing ostinato played on the vibraphone.

The Quest was recorded at Mighty Fine Studios in February 2025, and will be available on CD and for streaming. The release will be celebrated with a show at Dazzle on July 12 . Tickets can be purchased at dazzledenver.com.
